About 82-0

82-0 started as an argument about a number. Go ask a spreadsheet how likely a perfect 82-game season really is, and it laughs at you. The 1995-96 Bulls went 72-10. The 2015-16 Warriors went 73-9 and still lost in June. Win probability compounds — string together enough games and even a historically dominant team's odds of running the table collapse toward zero. Nobody has ever come within nine losses of 82-0, and the math says nobody reasonably should. That gap is the whole point of this game.

Why we built it

We think about basketball the modern way: spacing, on/off swings, usage overlap, era pace, and the brutal grind of an 82-game marathon where load management is a real strategy. So the "draft an all-time roster, chase an undefeated season" genre bugged us. Nearly every version — independent builds went viral in mid-2026 once NBA players and teams started posting their own runs — states plainly that it has no positional restrictions and no synergy scoring. The optimal move is just stacking the highest raw stat totals, even if that leaves you with five ball-dominant scorers, no floor spacing, and nobody to rebound.

That's not how a real rotation works, so we rebuilt it around how one actually does. Every round is locked to a real position — point guard through center. Every finished lineup earns a named chemistry read (Elite Spacing, Twin Playmakers, Usage Conflict, Poor Era Fit) instead of a bare number. And the season simulates game by game on an era-accurate schedule, so a lopsided five that looks fine on a stat sheet cracks over the long haul, the way it would in a real April. Around the game sits a set of guides covering the whole "82-0" genre — the history, the odds, the pace differences, and how every version actually plays.
